MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Education (DepEd) has warned the public against misleading posts circulating on social media claiming that the agency is offering cash assistance or has announced class suspensions due to various reasons.
In an official statement, DepEd clarified that it has not released any directive regarding mass financial aid or nationwide class suspensions and advised the public to verify all information only through its official communication channels.
“DepEd urges the public to exercise caution and avoid engaging with unofficial pages or individuals claiming to represent the department,” the statement read.
The department reiterated that official announcements regarding class suspensions due to weather or other emergencies will be posted on its verified social media pages or website.
This advisory follows a series of viral fake posts spreading false information, particularly targeting students and parents through Facebook groups, TikTok videos, and messaging apps.
