McCoy de Leon Says Goodbye to ‘Batang Quiapo’ After Character’s Death

MANILA, Philippines — Kapamilya actor McCoy de Leon has officially ended his journey in FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, following the dramatic death of his character David Dimaguiba in the June 24 episode.
David met his end at the hands of Miguelito Montenegro, played by Jake Cuenca, after teaming up with his stepbrother Tanggol, portrayed by Coco Martin.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News during the filming of his final scene, McCoy expressed gratitude and nostalgia for his time on the show.
“Mami-miss ko ’to!” McCoy said. “Malaking oportunidad po sa akin na magawa namin ito ng maayos, kasama ko pa si Jake Cuenca. Grabe!”
Originally intended as a short character arc, David’s role was extended due to the character’s popularity and strong narrative presence. McCoy has been with the show since its pilot episode in 2023.
“Sabi nga sa akin ni Kuya Coco, niloloko niya ako ‘Miss you McCoy,’ ako din, mami-miss ko ’to,” he added.
The actor called the experience a “blessing” and shared that the show had become a second home—both for himself and for the viewers.
“Ang priority naman namin dito ay ’yung manonood,” he said.
